White Flint’s renaissance begins with a sense of community.  The creation of a home with a better network of streets, more sidewalks and fewer cars…more walking and biking with less time spent in the automobile.

A neighborhood bursting to life with vibrant shops, outdoor cafes, bistros, and galleries lining wide tree lined sidewalks.  A community invigorated by open spaces enlivened with public art, a farmer’s markets and live entertainment...better living in a smaller footprint.

Residents, businesses and local leaders have been presented an unprecedented opportunity to remake the neighborhoods in the White Flint area of Montgomery County – transforming the current hodge-podge of traffic, parking lots and urban sprawl – into a new “Smart Growth” hometown that invites a cross-generational appeal.

A place where a community comes together, friends meet on walkable streets, bicyclists traverse new trails to work and to schools, and families enjoy in lush park space in safe, more environmentally friendly neighborhoods.

White Flint’s Opportunity

brow

Montgomery County’s effort to redesign the Sector Plan for White Flint represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to put our community on a path forward to economic strength, sustainability, improved mobility and a new sense of community for our residents.

To have such a large mass of underutilized commercial land surrounding an existing Metro stop – in an area where the demographics enhance our opportunities – is unique unto itself.  We envision making the White Flint Metro Station the focal point of an exciting new hub of residential and commercial activity.

Only through completely redesigning the network of streets in White Flint will we solve the dangerous traffic congestion on Rockville Pike.  Our plans are bold, including $500 million of targeted infrastructure enhancements to improve mobility and walkability throughout the area, transforming the Pike into a world class 21st Century Boulevard.

But this vision can only become a reality with the support and help of people just like you – Montgomery County residents who cherish this area and want to see it prosper for all our families and local businesses.
